Bat Exclusion & Guano Cleanup
Expert bat exclusion services that humanely remove bats and prevent re-entry. We also provide complete guano cleanup and sanitization.
Blackout Season: April 1 - July 31
Bat exclusion cannot be performed between April 1 and July 31. During this period, bat colonies contain flightless young (pups) that cannot leave on their own. Excluding adult bats while pups are present would trap the young inside your home, causing them to die — leading to severe odor problems, contamination, and secondary pest issues.
This isn't optional — it's the responsible, effective approach. Exclusion performed during the blackout season creates more problems than it solves. We schedule all bat exclusion work outside this window to ensure a permanent, humane result.
If you suspect bats during the blackout season, we can still inspect and plan your exclusion so work begins as soon as the window opens.
Signs You Have a Problem
- Squeaking sounds coming from attic or walls
- Scratching noises, especially at dusk or dawn
- Wing fluttering sounds in the attic or behind walls
- Bat droppings (guano) accumulating in attic or on surfaces below entry points
- Strong ammonia-like odor in upper floors
- Bats seen entering or exiting at dusk
- Dark staining on siding, gable vents, returns, or gable ends
- Guano visible on siding, window sills, driveways, AC units, or trash cans
- Grease marks or rub stains near entry points
Visual Indicators on Your Home
Beyond sounds, bats leave visible evidence on the exterior of your home that can confirm an active colony:
Staining
Dark, oily stains from bat body oils appear on siding, around gable vents, returns, and gable ends. These rub marks build up over time and are a reliable sign of repeated bat traffic.
Guano Accumulation
Bat droppings (guano) often accumulate on surfaces directly below entry points — window sills, siding, driveways, AC units, and trash cans. If you see small dark droppings in these areas, look up — the entry point is likely directly above.
Our Process
Inspection & Assessment
We locate all bat entry points, assess colony size and guano accumulation, and photograph all findings for your records.
Exclusion Timing Evaluation
We determine whether exclusion can proceed immediately or falls within the blackout period (April 1 – July 31), when flightless young are present and exclusion cannot be performed.
One-Way Exclusion
Once timing allows, bats are humanely excluded using one-way devices — they can leave but cannot re-enter.
Guano Cleanup & Seal
After all bats have departed, we clean up guano, sanitize affected areas, and permanently seal all entry points.
